CURRENTLY + ELECTION CRAFT

How in the name of Milly is it already November?  I am floored.  Absolutely floored.  Last week was a crazy blur and we are already 8 days out from Turkey Break.  My head is spinnin' . . . so little time and a heap to get done.  With this said, I am up early today in good old Nor Cal and gettin' down to business this AM.  But, I had to pause just a moment to take part in my favorite monthly linky from the eva-sweet Farley . . .
Alright, let me explain in more detail for ya.  Most are pretty self explanatory, but y'all know how long-winded I love to be ;)

LISTENING - I have my office door shut so I can listen to my tunes and block out the boy's snoring.  I am rollin' with a moody mix I made a week or so back. It has everything from Sia and Morning Parade to Florence + The Machine and Fleet Foxes.

LOVING - where would I be without my school crew?  Lost I tell ya.  You know who you are sweet ladies . . . thank you from the bottom of my heart!

THINKING - first grade always puts on an annual Thanksgiving Play for the parents/grandparents.  It's a night performance with readings, songs, and dancing.  Uh . . . only eight days out . . . I haven't assigned parts yet . . . gulp!

WANTING - I am having daily wardrobe meltdowns.  I come home after school to piles of pants, tops, and shoes that just didn't "work" for me as I tried to put together an outfit that morning.  Want.  New.  Choices.  Stat.

NEEDING - now needs and wants are to VERY different things when it comes to cleaning my office.  However, this need has turned into a necessity right about now.  Don't judge me too much . . . I can't seem to help my "creative" school/TPT messes :)

MUSIC - I am all about Ron Brown's Intelli-Tunes when it comes to learning and standards-based music.  It is fantabulis!  As for background music, Teeny Tiny mentioned George Winston a few months back and I have been hooked ever since.

Now it's your turn . . . go link up with Farley over at Oh Boy It's 4th Grade so I can read up on your "Current" haps.

Switchin' gears a bit . . . I have to share our Friday art ditty with ya.  When I came up with the Freedom Flag craft a few weeks ago I had a certain vision that I hoped it would be when the kids finished it.  Do you know what I mean??  Most of the time your vision is dead on, but once in a while the thing crumbles before your eyes.  Well, this one turned out better than I had hoped and I am tickled fuchsia!

Our big 7th Grade Buddies came, but the firsties did all of the work.
They were there to keep 'em rollin' and to provide good company yesterday :)

When our buddies left, we chatted about freedom and what freedom means to them.
Then my babes wrote about it.
They aren't very patriotic, but they are sweet as all get out.
Even the ones who needed a little extra support in the writing department tried their best for me!
Later that afternoon while they were coloring up their election book,
I pulled kiddos to glue on their writing and add stars to their "flag" . . . they were so amazed by the gold pen.
Ta-da . . . this is our finished product.  I love the wiggly lines and the jagged cutting on the fingers.
It's kid art at it's very best . . . my heart is happy.

If you are interested in trying this craft/write out with your class, it is available in my A Very Patriotic November Packet

Alright friends, I am out of here.  I should be back tomorrow with my latest pack.  It's 2/3 of the way finished and I am all jacked up on coffee.  If I can avoid the early afternoon "crash" I will be golden :)  Hugs!

  4. First, my office/creative area looks just like yours! I constantly straighten up, but it ends up looking like that again. What I need to do is refinish the space above our garage, then I can just close the door and not worry about it!

Second, I LOVE the flag project! Our school hosts a voting precinct and I think I will make these on Monday to decorate the area where people wait in line. They'll love reading what the kids have to say! Thanks!

  7. SO glad other people are creative with piles! Sometimes I see people in the blog world that seem to have everything always perfectly organized, and I love that you look like you work like me- a little of this, a little of that, a million ideas at a time. It turns out great, but the creative process always leads to some less-than-organized clutter. It's just how I work, though :) Thanks for making me feel a little better about it!
