FEELIN' THE LOVE - VALENTINE'S MATH GAMES + HEART FLAVORED FREEBIES

Valentine's Day is hands down my FAVORITE day in the classroom.  The little guys are able to decode most of their cards and the look of pure joy that takes over their faces after reading each note absolutely melts my heart.  Over the years, our classroom card reading extravaganzas always take well over 30 minutes.  {One very special year it took nearly an hour.}  And, just for the record, I'm not talking about the whole cupcake/movie thing either . . . just that pass out and open up section of the party.  I train my babes to go up and thank the person who's card they just opened . . . yes, I milk this for every sweet second.  Sure it adds a little extra time, but before long your simple "thank you" turns into huge hugs.  BEST.  DAY.  EVER.

How do you all do it in your room?  Do you have special something up your sleeve that makes Heart Day that much sweeter?  I'd love to hear it if you do!!

Speaking of HEARTS, I have a handful of fun resources that you might be interested in checking out.  And . . . some of 'em are free!!  First up, I have We Heart Math Centers.  Again, our math curriculum leaves me beggin' for more, so I am supplementing like crazy to fill the "gaps."  This packet contains 10 math centers/games that are perfect for this week.

These games have been kid-tested and approved.  My babes rocked these out last year.  They proved to be great centers and math warm ups!

To really get the overall flavor of this packet, I have offered up one of the games as a freebie.  Queen of Hearts is a fun Place Value game that will keep 'em gigglin' and learnin' . . . my sweeties absolutely loved this one last year!

CLICK HERE to add this game to your Heart Day files.
Two versions included (tens or hundreds).

Is it wrong that I absolutely love this photo.
He slapped his head when he saw the score . . . then he burst into laughter.
I miss last year's crew :)

Before you jet, I do have one other fun freebie that you might be interested in trying.  If you follow me, you may or may not have seen my Sweet Story Holiday Freebie that popped up at Christmas.  Well, it was so popular that I reworked it with a Valentine's Day theme.

ClICK HERE to try this one with your crew!
This adjective game is a Mad Lib with a twist.  Kids drop conversation hearts onto an adjective mat (sweet and wild versions included).  The kids then write the words they "land on" in the blank lines on the story template.  These create the silliest little stories . . . I guarantee they will read 'em to as many friends as they can! #bigclassroomwin

Alright, I am out of here.  Thanks so much for visiting me today.  Hopefully, you found a little something you can use this week.  I'll see you VERY soon with a super new and out of the box creation - I teamed up with Ron Brown's Intelli-Tunes.  This one is gonna knock your socks off Pre-K and Kinder teachers :)

  2. Wonderful games! Question: Does the paid version of Queen of Hearts contain the version with the 100s? I'm very curious, but didn't see it in the TpT preview either. I'm just finishing up adjectives with my class and I can just imagine the FUN they're going to have using all they've learned in the Valentine story. Thanks so very much!

    1. It's all fixed now . . . for some reason this didn't make it in the freebie. Both versions do include it. Thanks for asking.
