FEBRUARY GOOD MORNING WORK - MATH + PK1 FUN

I managed to get this latest Good Morning Work (Math) Packet up on TPT more than a week ago, but I just couldn't seem to get a post out about it.  Busy as all get out . . . sounds very familiar I bet . . . teaching and "runnin' like crazy" go hand in hand :)

I know many of you have heard my Good Morning Work spiel, but just in case you haven't I will take you through a brief Cliff Notes version.  I have been working on creating collections of morning warm ups for firsties that are aligned with the common core.  My main goal is to draft a month's worth of worksheets that can be completed independently by most of your kiddos at this time of the year.  I also "chunk" my concepts.  In other words, the pack targets a specific set of skills for five days in a row before moving on to cover 3-4 different common core standards.  I have found that this helps kiddos feel more successful and you get a handful of "extra minutes" each morning to take care of biz-nas!

This month covers a whole lot of everything - addition, subtraction, word problems, fact families, missing addend, skip counting, comparing/ordering numbers, odd/even, tallying, months of the year, date writing, time (hour and half hour), and shapes.

Does this sound like something that you might like to run with in your class? Well, why don't you, "Try 'em before you buy 'em??"  Below you will find some pages to try out with your crew.  If you like what you see, come on back and snag the whole pack!

Now, I am going to veer off a bit and chat with you about my weekend.  If you happened to catch my last post, you might know that I was slated to host a presentation at the PK1 Conference in Santa Clara, CA on Sunday (my very first speaking gig).  Well, despite being up against a VERY tense 4th Quarter for the SF 49'ers and holding the very last time slot in the conference, I had a surprising turnout!  They crowd was super sweet and I had a great time.

But, my weekend luck didn't stop there.  I had the opportunity to hang with one of my ALL time favorite bloggers . . . the one and only Fran from Kindergarden Crayons!!  I have always admired this classy lady and her fantastic work, but this trip took my respect level through the roof.  We had the most amazing chats filled with oodles of laughs.  Fran even attended my session and helped pass out my handouts . . . I can't tell you how nice it was to have a friendly face in the crowd as I dishing out my ideas.  I heart you to the moon and back sweet Fran.  I cannot wait to catch up in person again soon!

If you don't already follow fantastic Fran . . .
take a moment and click her bloggy button below.
Trust me on this one!!!

Alright my friends, I better get to gettin' this evening.  I need to make sure everything is in order for school tomorrow and I still want to catch that new Kevin Bacon show on FOX tonight.  Oh . . . I almost forgot . . . the February Good Morning Work Packet (Reading) will be up by next Saturday at the very latest!  Thanks for visiting and I'll see you again soon!

  2. I can vouch for Kelley's Good Morning Work! It is FANTASTIC! I love how the skills are chunked so that once you give directions for one chunk, the rest of the pages from that chunk are able to be done independently by most kids! The format is great and so are the skills she chooses!

And, Kelley, congrats on your first speaking gig - I surely wish I could have been there!!!
